The Above Average Pet Of The Week

Lady is an Alaskan Husky mix. She has a beautiful white coat with the classic husky black fur around her face, ears and on her back. Lady is very quiet and mellow. She is pleased to visit with people but is pretty laid back. She is unsure of others dogs so far, so if you are thinking of adopting Lady and already have a dog, you may want to have them meet each other too. Lady knows how to sit and shake with both paws. Alaskan Huskies are known for being smart, social, loving and easy-going and we think Lady will have a lot of these qualities!

The first thing you may notice is that Phoenix has some really cute, silly ears, which really do match his silly kind of personality. The second thing you may notice about Phoenix is his crazy energy. He would love a companion that is willing to go on walks and have a yard to run in. He likes to play catch and run around. Once Phoenix gets out that extra energy, he is very affectionate. Phoenix is a Canaan/Retriever, lab mix. The retriever, lab part is evident in his high energy and the Canaan can also be seen. Canaan dogs are known for being obedient and trainable. They are very intelligent, devoted, gentle and loyal. They (like labs) tend to watch over their homes and are known to bark at people passing by. However, this is something that training can help with. He will need someone who is willing to be the leader of his pack and show him how to be a polite dog and bring out his best. Phoenix is a loving dog waiting for a loving person or family to call his own.

My name is Isadora - I am a 5 year old torbie. As you can see I have some beautiful markings and these big green eyes of mine are full of love. I was surrendered to the Bay Area Humane Society because my owners could no longer properly care for me. The staff promised that they would help me find a new, loving and forever home. With valentines in the mail, kisses blowing in the wind and love being spread, what better time to find love?  Flash is a Black and Tan/Bluetick Coonhound mix looking for just that.  He was surrendered to Bay Area Humane Society after his previous owner passed away.  Without any of the family members being able to take him in, he came to us, looking for love and a warm home.  He has amazing brown eyes that will speak to your heart, droopy ears that will melt your heart and the personality to capture it!

Rickshaw is a two year old orange and white Tiger cat.  He arrived at Bay Area Humane Society as a stray and was friendly from the start!  He is a charming guy full off of gentle kindness.  Rickshaw has enjoyed lounging around Kitty City, our free roam room where cats gets to roam freely, but we can tell he is looking forward to having a forever home with a special family.

My name is Rhea. I am a solid black Chihuahua. I am not so puppy-like as my friend, Ringo. He can be sooo silly! I am a little more serious: I like to sniff a room I have never been in to make sure everything is good to go and I am more cautious of meeting new people and other animals. I am super friendly once I know you a little and can't wait to have a home again! Ringo and I came in together. Someone found us wondering around, lost. Luckily, they brought us to Bay Area Humane Society, where they are taking good care of us until they can find us homes.

Hank is a real sweetie! In fact he is a favorite of the Bay Area Humane Society's staff. Perhaps that is why he is still here; he may just want to stay, with all the loving and good care he gets.

Hank came in as a stray, so he may not realize how nice a warm loving home is. He is only a year old, already neutered and ready to go home with someone special today!

Hi my name is Harvin. I just recently turned two, but don't worry I am not in my terrible two's. I am actually quite mellow, don't mind other dogs (as long as they're not in their terrible two's and not too hyper) and I am quite smart. I already know sit and shake. I really enjoy people too. In fact, I was on a stroll one day admiring people along the way and ended up lost. Luckily some people brought me to Bay Area Humane Society where they are trying to find me a home since they could not find my previous people.

People are great! I love going on walks with the people here and can't wait to find a forever home. I am a beautiful (the staff is always saying that) retriever/lab/Australian shepherd mix. I have brown, golden hair and brown eyes. Like I said before, I love walks but most of all I really just love being in the company of nice people. Jacoby is just a baby at 3 months, but he is ready to pitch in around the house. He`ll be on crumb patrol! This little guy is all for treats. His quiet nature may make you think he`s a bit on the snooty side, but he is really just sizing up all new things around him with puppy wonder. He has no reservations about a warm lap to sit in and a friendly scratch for his big floppy ears. One look in those big brown eyes and he`ll steal your heart.

Hi Visitors! I am Babbs, and I am one of the sweetest little kitties you are ever going to meet. Aside from my pretty fur pattern and bright, happy eyes I am just tickled to meet a human as nice as yourself if you would be so kind to give me a chance. If you would like to meet a fancy lady with some spunk and all the love you can imagine, you and I will make great friends.

Fonzie is a black lab mix. He came to Bay Area Humane Society lost on November 20th and now we are trying to find him a home, maybe even before the holidays! Fonzie is just 3, which still makes him a bit of a puppy in lab years.

He has adorable brown eyes and cute droopy ears. He still needs to learn how to walk on a leash but with some positive direction, we're sure he'll learn quickly. He knows how to sit and his favorite toys are tennis balls. He loves to play fetch!

Fonzie loves being silly and is really affectionate. He loves life and can't wait to share it with someone special!
